Dispatch Merger
Core Competency #5: To communicate and interact productively and in culturally responsive ways with a diverse and changing workforce and society at large. The recent project, Dispatch Merger, involved the merging of police and fire dispatch centers into one unified entity, which was launched in 2021 following the commencement of the project in 2018. This initiative also encompassed the acquisition of all necessary hardware and software for both the police and fire departments, a complete overhaul of the existing ordinance, the consolidation of budgets, and a reduction in staff size from 72 to 52, with the creation of new management positions.
